A Royal initiative

We are determined to undertake a national coastal upgrade, including the Atlantic coastline of the Moroccan Sahara.

We want the Atlantic seaboard to become a meeting place for people, a hub of economic integration, and a center of continental and international influence. To this end, we are working to ensure that our southern provinces have the services and infrastructures they need for their economic development, while bringing to fruition the large-scale projects that have been launched. In addition, to ensure a fluid connection between the various components of the Atlantic coastline, we are committed to providing the necessary means of transport and logistics stations. This also includes the creation of a strong, competitive national merchant marine fleet.

The establishment of a maritime economy must be pursued to consolidate the development of the entire region and benefit local populations.

This integrated economy must be based on continued investment in the maritime fishing industry, desalination of seawater for agricultural use, encouragement of the blue economy and support for renewable energies.

We call on the development dynamic in our Southern Provinces to explore new possibilities and new horizons, particularly in the promising sectors of the blue economy and renewable energies.

The time has come to make the most of the numerous potentialities of their (the southern provinces’) maritime domain.

At the same time, we must continue to promote the marine fishing sector, given its role in the development of the region’s economy.
